Screenshot of a website homepage for 'Power House', with a logo in the top left corner, a navigation menu at the top right with links 'Our Work,' 'Our People,' 'In the News,' and a red contact button. The main headline reads 'A Power House of Communications Experts, Cutting Edge Strategists,' followed by a paragraph about progressive issues and media campaigns. Below that is a section titled 'Our Clients Win!' with an image of a protest or rally featuring people holding signs.

Communication Agency Website

Website designed to highlight successes of the agency,
growing the client base

Roles: UX Designer, UX Researcher, UX Strategist

Challenge

This project was a pretty straightforward ask: the agency needed a new website to better share what they do in a clean, branded way. Their old website was clunky, very busy, and quite dated in feel.

Two women at a protest holding signs that read "NO I-2109 No Cuts to Childcare." The woman on the right has short red hair, sunglasses, a gray shirt, and a black jacket. The woman on the left has long dark hair, glasses, and is wearing a peach-colored jacket. They are standing outside in front of a wooden fence and playground equipment.

Results

A clean, modern website was made and is use by the agency.

The redesigned site went live in May 2024, and 2024 was the agency’s most productive year. There was nearly triple the amount of projects going at any given time than in 2023. The website was a huge factor in this, with new clients consistently talking about the website and “wanting something that feels good like your website” when they talked about their wants for their projects. Plus as a freelance UX Designer, I personally grew my client list as a result of this website.

Collection of logos representing various labor unions, advocacy groups, and political organizations in Washington, including Invest in Washington Now, Just Solutions Collective, Washington Education Association, American Civil Liberties Union Washington, UFCW 3000 Union, SEIU 775, Starbucks Workers United, Planned Parenthood, ChildCare Aware of Washington, International Brotherhood of Teamsters 117, WA Washington State Democrats, Local 2428 AFSCME, Washington Low Income Housing Alliance, Local 9285 SEIU, Bread & Roses Law Group, and others with messages like "Vote No on I-2124" and "No I-2109".

How I Did It

There were a couple of key things I want to make sure happened in this redesign: limit the use of color to give a clean/serious feel, add in very small flourish that provide personality to combat the sterility of the white, and a few automations that show capabilities of the myself and the team I was making the website for.

This project is ongoing as I am also regularly updating the site to stay current, since this part of the agency’s brand. They get things done, don’t mess around with over the top graphics or fluff, and are always on top of what is happening in the world.
